Increasingly countries are exposed to high levels of risk from meteorological and geophysical hazards, which have significant negative impacts on their economic and fiscal stability. To mitigate these impacts quantification of accurate risk information are crucial to enable strategic decision making in disaster risk management, in particular for financial and planning process. The main purposes of the KSB are: i) Inform Bank products such as SCDs, Country Notes, CPFs with tailored advice on needed risk information and data, ii) Provide technical expertise in the production of risk profiles and risk information for disaster risk management, iii) Facilitate direct interactions with the wider community aimed at communicating relevant information on risk, vulnerability and potential impacts through providing advice on issues specific to World Bank funded projects, and iv) Share SWAT experience and advice on pitfalls related to design, provision and provide Quality Checks and Quality Assurance related to disaster risk profiles.
